FoodCo Nigeria Limited, a leading retailer and operator of the largest supermarket chain in South-West Nigeria, celebrated International Children’s Day 2024 by visiting vulnerable children in Ibadan. The company visited four orphanages – Jesus’ Kids Orphanage, Aduke Oladibo Orphanage, Christian Mission School for the Deaf, and Stella Obasanjo Homes – and donated essential items like food, snacks, and toiletries.
Funmi Aiyepeku, Head of Transformation at FoodCo, stated that the company is committed to supporting initiatives that promote the well-being of children in its communities. She highlighted that every child deserves equal opportunities to thrive and mentioned FoodCo’s investments in scholarships and annual children’s parties.
Aiyepeku also referenced a UNICEF report estimating 17.5 million orphaned or vulnerable children in Nigeria, emphasizing the need for collective action. She emphasized FoodCo’s role in uplifting vulnerable members of society, contributing to a progressive society where everyone can actualize their potential.
