FoodCo Nigeria Limited, a leading retailer and operator of the largest supermarket chain in South-West Nigeria, celebrated International Children’s Day 2024 by visiting vulnerable children in Ibadan. The company visited four orphanages – Jesus’ Kids Orphanage, Aduke Oladibo Orphanage, Christian Mission School for the Deaf, and Stella Obasanjo Homes – and donated essential items like food, snacks, and toiletries.

Funmi Aiyepeku, Head of Transformation at FoodCo, stated that the company is committed to supporting initiatives that promote the well-being of children in its communities. She highlighted that every child deserves equal opportunities to thrive and mentioned FoodCo’s investments in scholarships and annual children’s parties.

Aiyepeku also referenced a UNICEF report estimating 17.5 million orphaned or vulnerable children in Nigeria, emphasizing the need for collective action. She emphasized FoodCo’s role in uplifting vulnerable members of society, contributing to a progressive society where everyone can actualize their potential.

FoodCo, established in 1982, is a diversified consumer goods company with interests in retail, restaurants, manufacturing, and entertainment. With over 1000 staff across 21 outlets in Oyo, Lagos, and Ogun States, FoodCo is a significant employer and contributor to the South-west economy. The company was listed in the Financial Times ranking of Africa’s Fastest Growing Companies for 2021 and 2022.
