The Lagos State Police have initiated an investigation into the tragic death of a 19-year-old boy allegedly beaten to death by his father.
According to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, the incident was confirmed on Thursday. He stated that the Alagbado Police Division received a report about the incident on Tuesday.
Hundeyin explained, “On July 5, around 2:00 p.m., Olumide inflicted a deep cut on his son, Adeyemi, as a form of correction, using a shovel, following an undisclosed offense.”
He further disclosed that Adeyemi sustained injuries from the shovel attack and was promptly rushed to a hospital for treatment. Despite efforts, his condition deteriorated, and he was subsequently transferred to General Hospital Ikeja, where he succumbed to tetanus infection, as confirmed by attending medical personnel.
“Detectives from the division visited the scene,” Hundeyin added. “The father of the victim is currently evading arrest, and the case remains under active investigation.”
