The Department of Mass Communication at the Federal Polytechnic Offa recently organized an awareness campaign for the 22nd edition of the Nigeria Polytechnic Games (NIPOGA), scheduled to be hosted by the institution. The campaign took place on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at the Polytechnic’s Permanent Site.
Dr. Salimonu Ishaq Rasheed, the Deputy Rector Administration and Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, praised the Mass Communication Department for its timely awareness campaign. He emphasized that the campaign effectively communicated the institution’s readiness to host the event. Dr. Rasheed expressed his gratitude to the Dean of the School of Communication, the Head of the Mass Communication Department, and the campaign supervisors for choosing NIPOGA awareness as this year’s theme. He assured that the upcoming NIPOGA would be memorable and emphasized their commitment to making a significant impact.
Mr. Oladimeji Aliu, the Deputy Registrar of Academic Matters and Secretary of the Local Organising Committee, discussed the event’s potential economic and social benefits. He highlighted that NIPOGA would attract numerous visitors to the community, boosting local economic activities.
Dr. Mrs. Oluwakemi Ogungbamigbe, the Dean of the School of Communication and Information Technology and Chairman of the NIPOGA Media and Publicity Committee, reaffirmed the institution’s dedication to hosting the event. She praised the Rector, his management team, and the Polytechnic community, underscoring the campaign’s purpose. Dr. Ogungbamigbe noted that the campaign aims to raise awareness about FEDPOFFA’s role as the host of NIPOGA 2024, stressing the economic and image benefits the event would bring to the institution and the local community.
Dr. Bankole T.O., the Head of the Department of Mass Communication, congratulated the Polytechnic’s management, led by Engr. Dr. Kadiri Kamoru Oluwatoyin, for securing the hosting rights for the first time in the institution’s history. He expressed optimism about the event’s success and highlighted the department’s support through the campaign.
Campaign supervisor Dr. Chucks Okoji explained that the campaign was designed to inform the public about the event’s significance to the Polytechnic community. He noted that NIPOGA would serve as a platform to promote sportsmanship and unity among students from various polytechnics.
Another supervisor, Christiana Badmus Olofintoye, added that the campaign aims to promote Federal Polytechnic Offa as the host of the 2024 NIPOGA games and to encourage unity among the polytechnics in Nigeria.
The Students’ Union Public Relations Officer, Comrade Ogunrobi, commended the management for securing the hosting rights for the first time and expressed the students’ excitement about the event occurring during their time at the institution.
