The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria has strongly condemned the recent killings in Angwan Rukuba, located in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, describing the incident as a tragic reflection of the ongoing violence in the region.

In a statement issued by its president, Baba Ngelzarma, the association extended condolences to the families of the victims and others affected by the attack. He stressed that no form of grievance—whether religious, ethnic, or political—can justify the loss of innocent lives.

The group expressed concern over the recurring violence in Plateau State, noting that it continues to weaken peaceful coexistence and threaten national unity. According to the statement, the state has endured years of division, distrust, and retaliatory attacks, making it urgent to break the cycle of conflict.

Ngelzarma also criticised certain religious leaders and influencers, accusing them of making statements that inflame tensions instead of promoting peace and understanding. He urged such figures to act responsibly and contribute to calming the situation rather than worsening it.

He called on religious, traditional, and community leaders to promote dialogue and restraint, emphasizing that their words can either help restore peace or deepen conflict, especially in sensitive environments.

The association further urged security agencies to take firm and professional action by identifying and prosecuting those responsible for violence, including individuals who incite unrest through speech or actions. It also recommended stronger intelligence efforts, increased security presence in vulnerable areas, and the promotion of community-based peace initiatives.

MACBAN stressed that Nigeria must not accept violence as normal, insisting that protecting human life should remain a top priority. The group called for immediate and decisive steps to end the bloodshed.

The attack in Angwan Rukuba reportedly left several people dead and others injured. In response, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang described the incident as unacceptable and assured residents that those responsible would be brought to justice.
