Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Saturday visited the rescued pupils and teachers from Oriire Local Government Area at the Military Hospital in Ibadan, where they are currently receiving medical treatment and care.
Drivetvnews gathered that the victims were abducted by gunmen on May 15, 2026, and spent more than 50 days in captivity before regaining their freedom following a coordinated security operation.
The Federal Government confirmed their rescue on Friday, with the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announcing that all the abducted pupils and teachers had been safely freed by security agencies.
During the visit, Governor Makinde met with the victims as they continued to receive medical attention and psychosocial support after their prolonged ordeal.
The visit came a day after the governor said the immediate priority of the state government was to ensure the victims’ full rehabilitation and reunification with their families.
