Professor Wale Alamu, husband of Mrs. Rachael Alamu, one of the teachers abducted alongside pupils in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, has expressed gratitude following the successful rescue of the victims after nearly eight weeks in captivity.
Reacting to the development, Professor Alamu described the rescue as the end of a painful and emotionally draining period for his family.
“For the past eight weeks, I have lived with unbearable pain, but today God has lifted that burden,” he said.
He thanked the Presidency, the Oyo State Government, members of the state executive council, security agencies, and Nigerians from all religious and social backgrounds for their collective efforts in securing the victims’ freedom.
According to him, the successful rescue demonstrated what can be achieved through unity and cooperation, adding that every contribution made toward the operation was deeply appreciated.
Professor Alamu also urged authorities to thoroughly review the circumstances surrounding the abduction and implement stronger security measures around schools and vulnerable communities to prevent similar incidents in the future.
He expressed hope that lessons learned from the incident would lead to improved strategies for safeguarding students, teachers, and educational institutions across the country.
