The successful rescue of pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State has been met with relief across Nigeria, but many citizens are demanding more details about the operation and the fate of those responsible for the kidnapping.
Drivetvnews gathered that the announcement was made by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who confirmed that all the abducted victims had been rescued by security agencies after weeks in captivity.
In a video released after the rescue, Mrs. Rachael Alamu, the principal of Community High School and one of the freed victims, expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and the security agencies for securing their release, praising their efforts in ensuring the victims returned safely.
While many Nigerians celebrated the development, several social media users questioned how the rescue was carried out and called on the authorities to provide a full account of the operation.
Many demanded information on whether the kidnappers had been arrested or neutralised, with some urging the government to publicly identify suspects and disclose where the rescue took place.
Others stressed that those responsible for the abduction should be prosecuted without delay, while calling for greater transparency in future security operations.
Despite the questions, many Nigerians commended the military, police, and intelligence agencies for safely rescuing the victims and urged the government to strengthen security measures to prevent similar incidents in schools and communities across the country.
