A former operative of the Department of State Services (DSS), Seyi Adetayo, has revealed that the successful rescue of pupils and teachers abducted in Oyo State after 56 days in captivity was achieved through intelligence-driven operations rather than the payment of ransom.
Speaking during an interview on TVC News, Adetayo explained that security agencies dismantled the kidnappers’ support network by identifying and targeting their close relatives and associates.
According to him, operatives traced the abductors’ mothers, wives, children and other family members, apprehended them, recorded videos of the arrests and sent the footage to the kidnappers as part of a psychological strategy to pressure them into releasing the victims.
He added that security forces also disrupted the kidnappers’ supply routes and escape channels while combining intelligence gathering with negotiations throughout the operation.
Adetayo said the coordinated approach eventually forced the abductors to release the pupils and teachers safely after 56 days in captivity, without any ransom payment or prisoner exchange.
