Yoruba nation activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has commended President Bola Tinubu and Nigeria’s security agencies for the successful rescue of pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Drivetvnews gathered In a statement issued by his media office in Ibadan on Saturday, Igboho said the government’s refusal to grant the kidnappers’ reported demand for the release of detained terrorists prevented criminals from gaining further leverage and funding their activities.
He described the rescue operation, which secured the victims’ freedom after 56 days in captivity, as a demonstration of effective intelligence gathering and coordinated security operations.
Igboho praised the military, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and other security agencies for what he called their professionalism and commitment, saying the operation had restored public confidence in the Federal Government’s determination to tackle insecurity.
He also commended the Minister of Defence, the National Security Adviser, the Inspector-General of Police and other security chiefs for their collaboration, adding that the government had shown its resolve to dismantle criminal networks operating in Oke-Ogun and other parts of the country.
According to him, the Federal Government’s partnership with local security organisations will continue to strengthen efforts to protect rural communities and create a safer environment for farmers across the South-West.
Igboho also expressed condolences to the family of teacher Michael Oyedokun, who was killed during the abduction, and sympathised with other families affected by the incident.
