On Thursday, during nationwide protests against Nigeria’s severe economic hardships, a woman drew significant attention by marching with an empty pot on her head, symbolizing her struggle with hunger. Her emotional display, standing out among the hundreds of protesters, was marked by her cries of “Ebi o, ebi o,” which means “hunger, hunger” in English. Her tears and desperate plea underscored her plight, highlighting the broader issues at the heart of the demonstrations.

These protests have spread across Nigeria, with demonstrators in various states expressing their dissatisfaction with the nation’s economic situation. While some regions saw large gatherings, others experienced largely empty main roads.

According to Drivetvnews, the #EndBadGovernance protesters are active in Lagos, where a significant number of youths gathered at Ikeja Underbridge with plans to march to Ojota. The protest, which began today, is scheduled to continue until August 10.

Protesters assembled around 8 a.m., chanting solidarity songs and carrying placards demanding better governance. The demonstration is occurring under a heavy security presence, including police, LNSC, and civil defense forces. Despite sparse vehicle traffic on roads such as the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and Alausa routes, large groups of youths continue to march from the Underbridge.
