Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has expressed criticism towards women who apply make-up before their weddings. He argues that those who believe they can enhance what God has already created are misguided and lack faith in the perfection of God’s creation.
Pastor Adeboye made these comments at the RCCG ministers’ conference during the National Convention held on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. He remarked, “It wasn’t so in the beginning. When you marry, you should align with your own means.”
He continued, “Some people aspire to mirror worldly standards. I find it hard to comprehend some of the trends I observe today.”
He criticized the high spending on elaborate photo shoots and the use of excessive decorations on wedding days, stating, “Those who engage in make-up do not believe in the quality of God’s creation.”
According to Adeboye, “When God created you, He did a remarkable job. You are unique, perfectly made, and there is no one else like you. When you attempt to alter or enhance what God has done, you are mistaken. You cannot surpass God’s work.”
