The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) is scheduled to announce the results of the May/June 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) today, Monday, August 12, 2024. Mrs. Moyosola Adesina, the Acting Head of Public Affairs at WAEC, informed The Sun that Dr. Amos Dangut, the Head of the National Office (HNO), will unveil the results at the WAEC headquarters in Yaba.
The results are being released 45 days after the final exam paper was taken. In April 2024, Dr. Dangut revealed that of the 1.8 million students who participated in the exam, 902,328 (49.73 percent) were male and 912,016 (50.27 percent) were female. The examination covered 76 subjects with a total of 197 papers, and was overseen by 30,000 secondary school teachers.
Dr. Dangut stated, “In line with our recent tradition, the results will be released 45 days after the last paper, and certificates will be printed and distributed to schools within 90 days of the results’ release.” He also mentioned that digital copies of the candidates’ certificates will be made available on the digital certificate platform.
As the 2024 admission process for universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education is already underway following the recent education policy meeting, the release of the WASSCE results will be crucial for many candidates seeking admission. Drivetvnews reports that some institutions have already begun their admission procedures, including scheduling dates for Post-UTME screening and tests.
