Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, recently made headlines with his unconventional perspective on his recent incarceration. Despite his imprisonment, Bobrisky views the experience as a sort of vacation.
Released from Kirikiri Correctional Centre on August 5, 2024, after a six-month sentence, Bobrisky reflected on his time in jail as a needed break from his busy life. His sentence, handed down on April 12, 2024, by Justice Abimbola Awogboro at the Federal High Court in Lagos, was for the offense of misusing naira by spraying it at events.
During his appearance on the ‘Curiosity Made Me Ask’ show with Bae U Barbie, Bobrisky remarked that he would be open to serving another short-term sentence. He described his time in prison as a period of rest, noting, “I see my jail term as a vacation. On vacation, you get to rest. I’ve been working hard, and I think their decision worked well for me.”
Bobrisky further stated, “The decision was meant to break me, but it didn’t affect Mummy of Lagos. I’m still doing well and will continue to be.” When asked if he would like to return to prison, he said, “I would love to go again, maybe for a short term. Not long-term.”
He criticized the legal action against him, calling it absurd to be jailed for spraying money. He argued, “It’s strange to me. Everything seemed like a movie. Spraying money? It’s my money. I didn’t owe anyone, steal, kidnap, commit rape, or murder. I used my own money and ended up in prison with actual criminals.”
Despite his time in jail, Bobrisky asserts that he does not consider himself an ex-convict. He concluded, “I’m not an ex-convict because I can’t be convicted for spraying money. I won’t accept that label.”
