Popular Celestial Church of Christ prophet, Israel Ogundipe, has disclosed that a bank proposed a loan of N1 billion to him.
Ogundipe, who founded Genesis Global Ministry in Lagos, shared this information during an interview with renowned Nigerian On-Air Personality Ifedayo Olarinde, also known as Daddy Freeze, on Tuesday.
He elaborated that the bank, which he chose not to name, presented him with details of other churches that had received similar loans. According to Ogundipe, the list included churches that had taken loans ranging from N3 billion to N4 billion.
“A bank contacted me two months ago with an offer of a N1 billion loan,” Ogundipe stated. “They explained that they were offering this loan because they believe my church is substantial and capable of repaying it. When I inquired about the repayment terms, they mentioned that repayments would be made monthly during revivals and crusades.”
He added that the bank also shared examples of churches that had received loans between N3 billion and N4 billion, indicating that these churches continually conducted conferences, crusades, and revivals to generate funds for repayment.
In a separate legal matter, Ogundipe was convicted in 2020 for defrauding a London-based architect and misappropriating her property. He faced seven counts including theft, unlawful conversion of property, forgery, and fraudulently obtaining N14 million and £12,000 from the victim between 2002 and 2005.
