Senator Monday Okpebholo, the candidate representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), is currently leading in the Edo State governorship election.
The election took place on Saturday, and results from 16 Local Government Areas have been announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday.
So far, Okpebholo has received 244,549 votes, while his closest contender, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has secured 195,954 votes.
Olumide Akpata, the Labour Party (LP) candidate, has garnered 13,348 votes.
INEC has temporarily paused the announcement of further results, with a 3-hour break as they await the final two local government areas. The collation is set to continue at 5 p.m.
