Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi has left Nigeria after reportedly surviving an assassination attempt.
Fabiyi announced his departure after missing a court hearing regarding the death of singer Mohbad and failing to lead a protest at the Lagos State Assembly on September 30, 2024.
According to Drivetvnews, Fabiyi had organized the protest to coincide with the coroner’s inquiry into Mohbad’s death.
Explaining his absence, the actor stated that he felt his life was in danger, having narrowly escaped an assassination attempt just two days earlier.
In a video posted on his Instagram, Fabiyi, now in hiding, alleged a conspiracy against him connected to the Mohbad case.
“I barely escaped an assassination attempt two days ago, and they still plan to kill me tonight. If they had succeeded, I would have been buried tomorrow.
“They want to take my life because I am fighting for justice. I didn’t take money from anyone; I’m doing this for God. I had to flee for my life. I left Nigeria unexpectedly, and right now, I don’t even know where I’m headed,” he said.
