Manchester United has parted ways with their Dutch manager, Erik ten Hag, as reported by DriveTV News. The former Ajax coach’s last game with the club ended in a 2-1 defeat against West Ham United.
In an official statement, Manchester United announced Ten Hag’s departure and revealed that former striker Ruud van Nistelrooy will be stepping in as interim head coach.
“Erik ten Hag has left his position as the manager of Manchester United’s men’s first team. We are grateful for all his contributions and wish him success in his future endeavors,” the club’s statement read. “Ruud van Nistelrooy will take over as interim head coach, with support from the current coaching team, while the search for a permanent replacement is underway.”
The club had almost dismissed Ten Hag earlier this summer after the team recorded its worst-ever Premier League finish. However, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s new leadership, the club extended his contract for another year before ultimately deciding to make this change.
