Pastor Ayorinde AdeBello, recently suspended by the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) due to allegations of homosexuality, has publicly denied any wrongdoing. The RCCG suspended AdeBello and Deacon Oke Mayowa following allegations of inappropriate conduct involving young male members of the church.
AdeBello took to his Instagram account to refute the allegations, stating that his remarks in a WhatsApp group chat were misinterpreted. He explained that the discussion was centered on male reproductive health and self-esteem within a group intended for teenage boys. The cleric expressed disappointment that the screenshot of his message was deliberately misrepresented to suggest he engages in sexual relations with male teenagers.
In a statement titled “My Response to the Allegations of Sodomizing Teenagers,” AdeBello clarified that he never demanded sex from any male as payment or gratification. He also denied having sex with or proposing sex to Mr. Jedidiah, emphasizing that God is the only one who can give positions and platforms.
The RCCG has initiated an investigation, overseen by the Special Assistant to the General Overseer on Administration, with results expected within two weeks. The church reaffirmed its zero-tolerance stance on homosexuality, citing biblical teachings.
The allegations against AdeBello reportedly involve inappropriate communications in a WhatsApp group with teenage boys. The RCCG stated that any behavior undermining the church’s core values of holiness, accountability, and protection of vulnerable individuals is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
