A major fire has devastated the Araromi spare parts market at Agodi-Gate in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, causing extensive damage estimated in the millions of naira. The fire reportedly began at around 2 am on Saturday and has been raging ever since, with firefighters from the Oyo State Fire Services working tirelessly to control the blaze.
Akinyemi Akinyinka, the General Manager of Oyo State Fire Services, confirmed the incident early Saturday, describing the situation as critical. In his statement, he called for urgent assistance from water tanker owners, saying, “We are fighting a massive fire at Agodi-Gate. Please help us by reaching out to water tanker owners. We are still on the ground trying to manage the situation.”
The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation. Local authorities have appealed to residents and tanker owners to support firefighting efforts to prevent further destruction.
