A tragic incident has surfaced involving the alleged murder of 24-year-old Salome Eleoja Adaidu, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member working with Nicon Insurance in Abuja. She was reportedly killed by 32-year-old Timileyin Ajayi at his residence in the Papalana area of New Karshi, Karu Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.
Ajayi was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Criminal Investigation Department of the Nasarawa State Police Command in Lafia. He was transferred to the state capital from the Karshi development area on Tuesday. During his presentation to the public, the police displayed items believed to have been used in the crime, including a knife and machetes.
According to Drivetvnews, the horrifying incident came to light during a church service in Orozo, Abuja, where Ajayi, a gospel singer, was confronted by church members. A suspicious congregant decided to inspect a sack Ajayi was carrying, only to discover the severed head of a young woman inside. The victim, later identified as Salome, was said to have her hair freshly braided in a “million braids” style.
The discovery caused an uproar among the churchgoers, leading to Ajayi’s apprehension and interrogation. He reportedly confessed that the victim was his girlfriend, who had traveled from a distant location to visit him.
In an interview with Channels TV, Ajayi admitted to the crime, claiming it was unintentional. He cited frustrations in their relationship as the motive. “I killed her because we didn’t spend enough time together. It wasn’t planned—it just happened,” he explained. He also alleged that Salome was unfaithful, saying he found conversations with other men on her phone.
When questioned about remorse, Ajayi expressed none. “I don’t regret it because life is reciprocal. We were compatible, and I acted based on how I felt at that moment,” he said.
Meanwhile, Salome’s family has expressed disappointment with how the case is being handled. Her elder sister, Patience Adaidu, criticized the lack of updates from the Orozo Police Station, where the case was initially filed. She also raised concerns over the potential transfer of the case to Keffi, Nasarawa State, even though the crime occurred in Abuja.
Patience denied online rumors suggesting that Salome had a romantic relationship with Ajayi, emphasizing that the family had no prior knowledge of him or any connection between the two. The family is now demanding justice and urging authorities to ensure a thorough and transparent investigation.
