The Ogun State Police Command, Egba Division, has taken Kazeem Sholola into custody for allegedly assaulting his wife, Mutiat Sholola, by pouring hot oil on her and stabbing her in the head during a domestic dispute.
The incident reportedly occurred in the Ring Road community of Owode Egba, within the Obafemi/Owode Local Government Area, following a disagreement between the couple.
In a statement released on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrest and provided details of the case.
According to the statement, the police were notified of the incident by a community member at about 12:20 p.m. on Saturday, which led to the immediate arrest of the suspect.
Mutiat, who sustained serious burns and head injuries, is currently receiving medical treatment at Ore Ofé Hospital in Owode Egba.
The statement reads in part: “The Divisional Police Officer of Owode Egba Division promptly responded to a case of domestic violence, leading to the arrest of a man accused of inflicting severe injuries on his wife.
“On January 18, 2025, at approximately 12:20 p.m., members of the Ring Road community reported an incident involving Kazeem Sholola and his wife, Mutiat.
“It was alleged that, during a heated disagreement, Kazeem poured hot oil on his wife and stabbed her in the head in a fit of rage
“The victim was rushed to Ore Ofe Hospital for urgent medical attention, while officers examined the scene of the incident. The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations continue.”
