A Nigerian police officer, Inspector Lawal Ibrahim, has reportedly died following an encounter with a woman he met on social media.
Inspector Ibrahim, who was attached to the Kwali Division, passed away at Palasa Guest Inn in Gwagwalada after spending the night with the woman, identified as Maryam Abba. Reports indicate that Ibrahim had invited Abba, who traveled from Dutse in Jigawa State, to meet him at the hotel on Wednesday.
Abba recounted that they were intimate during the night and again in the early morning. She explained, “After the second round, his breathing suddenly became irregular and then stopped. I tried to revive him by sprinkling water on him, but he did not respond.”
Realizing the situation, she informed the hotel manager, Danlami Palasa, who then contacted the police. Officers arrived at the scene and transported Ibrahim to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, where he was confirmed dead. His body was subsequently deposited in the hospital’s mortuary.
A police officer from the Gwagwalada division, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the incident and revealed that Abba had been detained for questioning.
Efforts to reach SP Josephine Adeh, spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, were unsuccessful, as she did not respond to calls or messages seeking comment.
