A notorious bandit leader, formerly known as Kachallah Bugaje, has publicly announced his decision to abandon criminal activities, citing his deep reverence for Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) and fear of divine judgment.
In a video shared on social media by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, Kachallah was seen speaking in Hausa while surrounded by his armed followers. Holding prayer beads, they invoked blessings for the Prophet as he declared his repentance.
Kachallah swore by Almighty Allah, saying “Wallahi-Tallahi,” and affirmed that he had permanently renounced banditry and kidnapping. He emphasized that his decision was driven by his fear of Allah, his Creator, and his concern for the day he will stand before Him.
He also claimed to have released 50 kidnapped individuals under his command, stating that this act was not forced but was done willingly out of fear of divine retribution and a desire to align with the teachings of Islam.
Expressing deep regret for his past actions, Kachallah acknowledged that he feared the consequences of his deeds in the hereafter. He stated that he and his followers are devoted to Prophet Muhammad and noted that the Prophet never endorsed theft or kidnapping. Consequently, they have resolved to abandon such activities and follow Islamic teachings.
Kachallah further revealed that although they initially demanded ransoms ranging from N10 million to N25 million per victim, they ultimately freed all 50 hostages without accepting any payment. He attributed this decision to their love and respect for Prophet Muhammad.
“I declare that from this moment onward, I have ceased all involvement in banditry, by the grace of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W). I swear by Almighty Allah—Wallahi Tallahi—that I have truly left this path,” he stated.
He reiterated that he fears no one but Allah and does not want to face divine punishment. His followers, he added, have also agreed to turn over a new leaf and embrace a righteous way of life.
Concluding his message, Kachallah prayed for continued blessings upon Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W), reaffirming his commitment to a life free from crime.
