The Ogun State Police Command has arraigned Semiu Adewale Ogunjobi, the suspended Olorile of Orile Ifo, for allegedly attacking a 73-year-old chief, Abraham Areola.
Ogunjobi appeared in court on Tuesday, facing charges of conspiracy, assault, and actions that could disturb public order.
Confirming the development, the spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, stated that Ogunjobi was charged after a video showing him assaulting an elderly man in Ifo, Ogun State, went viral.
He added, “The defendant was arraigned on February 4, 2025, on three counts: conspiracy, assault, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace. He has been granted bail, and the case is set for hearing on March 6, 2025.”
Adejobi assured the public that the police remain committed to justice and the rule of law, reinforcing their dedication to upholding the core values of the force.
