Seven travelers have been abducted along the Benin-Owo-Akure Road near Ifon in the Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the incident in a conversation with our correspondent on Tuesday.

According to Odunlami, the victims were traveling from Akwa Ibom State to the South West when they were attacked by armed bandits late Friday night.

“The incident occurred on January 31, just before midnight. The victims, who were traveling in a commercial bus from Akwa Ibom State, were kidnapped along the route,” she said.

She further stated that security operatives are actively working to rescue the victims and apprehend those responsible.

In a related development, a separate abduction involving 10 travelers took place on the Owo-Ipele Road.

A source familiar with the situation reported, “Ten people were taken when gunmen ambushed their vehicles along the Owo-Ipele Road on Saturday around midnight. They were forcibly taken into the bush to an unknown location.”

Authorities are continuing efforts to track down the kidnappers and secure the release of the abducted individuals.
