The Rivers State Police Command has taken a man identified as Michael into custody for allegedly stabbing his friend, Uchenna, to death after accusing him of stealing his phone.
The incident reportedly happened last Wednesday on Egede Street in the Mile 2 area of Diobu, Port Harcourt.
A source revealed that Uchenna had gone to visit Michael at his residence, as they had been longtime friends. During the visit, Michael realized his phone was missing and began searching for it.
“Michael accused Uchenna of taking his phone, but Uchenna denied it, which led to a heated argument,” the source said.
As the situation escalated, Michael allegedly grabbed a jackknife and stabbed Uchenna in the stomach.
Uchenna was rushed to the hospital, where he was later confirmed dead. Meanwhile, the police arrested Michael in connection with the incident.
Confirming the arrest, the Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, stated, “Yes, the suspect has been apprehended, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.”
