The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, CP Dankombo Morris, has strongly condemned the abduction of Rev. Fr. Mathew Dusami of Yola Catholic Diocese and Rev. Fr. Abraham Samman of Jalingo Diocese.
In a statement issued on Saturday in Yola, the command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, revealed that the incident took place in the early hours of February 22.
According to CP Morris, security operatives have been dispatched to secure the release of the victims.
“The distressing event unfolded at the residence of one of the priests in Gwaida Malam, Numan Local Government Area of Adamawa State,” he stated.
He explained that armed kidnappers stormed the premises at approximately 4 a.m. and forcibly took the priests away.
“In a determined effort to ensure their safe return, the Commissioner has deployed operational and manpower resources to track down the criminals, rescue the victims unharmed, and bring the perpetrators—along with any accomplices—to justice,” the statement added.
CP Morris reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and preventing violent crimes across the state.
“This act of abducting religious leaders is completely unacceptable, as they play a crucial role in fostering peace and unity within society,” he asserted.
The police command urged the public to remain calm and cooperate by providing any useful and timely information that could aid in rescuing the victims and apprehending those responsible.
