ASABA—A group of armed men attacked a church in Asagba Ogwashi, Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State over the weekend, injuring the pastor and abducting six worshippers.
The spokesperson for the state police command, Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident on Sunday, stating that it took place on Saturday evening. He added that a rescue team had been deployed to pursue the attackers.
Reports indicate that the assailants stormed Elyon Paradise Ministry Church during a night vigil, capturing six members and taking them to an unknown location.
During the attack, the pastor, identified as Apostle Divine Omodia, was shot, and two of his fingers were reportedly severed.
As of the time of this report, the kidnappers had not contacted anyone to demand ransom. Meanwhile, Apostle Omodia was taken to a hospital, where medical personnel are working to stabilize his condition.
