A National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Lawal Rofiat Kofoworola, has reportedly been abducted while traveling from Benin, Edo State, to Ibadan, Oyo State, where she was set to begin her Place of Primary Assignment (PPA) in Ogbomoso.

The incident took place on Tuesday when she boarded a bus headed toward Ore.

Shortly after, her captors contacted her family, demanding a ransom of ₦20 million.

A friend of the victim, identified as Agbakwara, raised the alarm on Facebook, expressing deep concern over her disappearance.

“We have been close friends since our first year at university. I haven’t been myself since this happened,” he wrote.

According to him, a report was submitted to the NYSC Secretariat in Ibadan along with Kofoworola’s call-up number, but no official response has been received.

“We are exhausted and desperately in need of help!” he added.

He also disclosed that Kofoworola’s parents are financially struggling and cannot afford the ransom.

“My close friend Lawal Rofiat Kofoworola was kidnapped while traveling from Benin to Ibadan to resume at her PPA in Ogbomoso. She managed to call yesterday and told me she was inside a bus heading to Ore when she was taken.

“This is someone who has worked tirelessly to support herself through university by working at Dufil company in Benin. Now, kidnappers are demanding ₦20 million, and we don’t know what to do. Her parents are not financially capable of meeting this demand.

“I reported the matter to the NYSC Secretariat in Ibadan and provided her call-up number, but there has been no response. We are completely drained and in dire need of assistance.

“Please, Nigerians, I appeal to you—if there is any way you can help, whether by spreading this message, reaching out to the authorities, or any other form of support, please do so.”

“She has been my close friend since our first year, and I have been deeply unsettled since this incident,” he added.

When contacted by SaharaReporters, Caroline Embu, the spokesperson for the NYSC, responded, “Please can you send me the details so I can verify?”
