The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a warning about fraudulent TikTok accounts impersonating the agency to deceive the public.
In a statement on Thursday, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale clarified that the commission does not have an official TikTok presence.
He explained that scammers had conducted a live session on the platform, using the EFCC’s logo to mislead and defraud unsuspecting individuals.
According to Oyewale, the fraudsters operated six fake accounts under misleading names, including “EFCC of Nigeria,” “EFCC Lagos,” “EFCC Delta,” “EFCC of Benin,” “EFCC of Jos,” and “EFCC Saga.”
“The EFCC has become aware of fraudulent activities by individuals who, on February 27, 2025, hosted a live session on TikTok, falsely presenting themselves as the commission by using its official logo to attract engagement and exploit the public,” he stated.
“These scammers created multiple fake accounts, all displaying the EFCC’s logo and fictitious directorate names.”
The agency reiterated that it does not have a TikTok account and urged the public to disregard any profile claiming to represent it.
