The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar III, has proclaimed Saturday, March 1, 2025, as the official start of the Holy Month of Ramadan.
Making the announcement from his palace on Friday evening, the Sultan stated that the crescent moon had been sighted earlier that day, February 28, which marked the 29th day of Shaban.
After receiving and verifying reports of moon sightings from various locations, the council confirmed the beginning of Ramadan 1446.
The Sultan called on Muslims to dedicate the holy month to prayers, seeking Allah’s blessings and guidance for the nation and its leaders.
He also highlighted the significance of charity, urging support for the less fortunate so they can fully observe the fasting period.
With validation from Islamic leaders across the country, Muslims in Nigeria are now prepared to commence a month of fasting, prayer, and spiritual reflection.
