Two officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have been taken into custody for allegedly shooting and killing a 19-year-old woman, Patient Samuel, in the Jaba Quarters area of Kano State.
The suspects, identified as 23-year-old Nass Ridwan Usman and 26-year-old Sna Ismaila Yakubu, were assigned to the NDLEA’s Kano State headquarters.
Reports indicate that the incident took place at approximately 10:55 p.m. on Wednesday.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama shared on his X handle that a police team arrived at the scene and transported the victim to Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Among the items recovered from the arrested officers were their operational motorcycle, a live round of ammunition, four spent 7.62×51mm ammunition casings, and two knives.
Confirming the development on Thursday, Kano State Police spokesperson Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa stated that the two suspects had been apprehended and transferred to the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department for further inquiry.
Attempts to obtain a response from NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi were unsuccessful.
