The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the burial site of Adedamola Ogunbode, a Lagos State University (LASU) graduate, following the arrest of the main suspect, Olaoluwa Ajisomo.

According to Drivetvnews, Ajisomo, who was previously believed to have fled to the Benin Republic, led detectives to the location where Ogunbode was buried.

The command’s spokesperson, Chief Superintendent of Police Benjamin Hundeyin, verified these developments in a statement to Drivetvnews on Tuesday.

Ogunbode, a Political Science Education graduate, had been reported missing since January 16, 2025, amid rumors that his mutilated remains had been discovered.

Arrests and Investigation

Last Friday, the Lagos State Police Command announced the arrest of three suspects and continued its search for five others linked to Ogunbode’s murder.

Among those in custody is Whepetoji Sunday, a pastor accused of receiving ₦70,000 from the victim’s bank account. Another suspect, Sheriff Adebayo, a church member, was allegedly paid ₦300,000.

Additionally, the prime suspect’s mother, Omolara Ajisomo, was arrested for allegedly helping her children, Teniola and Olaoluwa Ajisomo, escape after they each reportedly withdrew ₦300,000 from the victim’s account.

Following concerns raised by the students’ union, which threatened a statewide protest, Lagos State Commissioner of Police Olohundare Jimoh directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case.

Capture of the Prime Suspect

Hundeyin confirmed that Olaoluwa Ajisomo was arrested on Monday morning in the Alakuko area of Lagos.

“He was apprehended early Monday in Alakuko. He was the one who emptied the victim’s bank account using the deceased’s mobile phone,” Hundeyin stated.

Contrary to speculation, the spokesperson clarified that Ogunbode’s burial site was not within the premises of the church associated with the arrested pastor.

Hundeyin further noted that the church had been sealed off by authorities after intelligence reports suggested that some individuals planned to set it on fire in retaliation.

“The shallow grave is within the community but not on church grounds. The church was sealed off due to threats of arson, and we want to prevent any unlawful actions,” he explained.

Ongoing Investigation

Meanwhile, a source involved in the case revealed that Ajisomo had confessed to the crime and was guiding detectives to the burial site.

“The newly arrested suspect has admitted to the killing, and officers are currently on their way to recover the victim’s remains,” the source disclosed.

When asked for confirmation, Hundeyin simply responded, “Confirmed.”
