A Sharia Court in Kano State has ordered the detention of a 29-year-old man, Abduljabar Nura, in a correctional facility for allegedly stabbing his neighbor during a dispute over an electricity bill.
Nura, a resident of the Fagge Quarters, was charged with causing grievous harm. When the charge was presented in court, he admitted to the offense.
Presiding Judge Umar Lawal-Abubakar directed that Nura be held at the Goron Dutse Correctional Centre in Kano until April 15, when the court will issue its verdict.
According to the prosecution counsel, Zahradeen Abubakar, the case was reported to the Fagge Police Station on February 28 by the victim, Haruna Kasim. The prosecution stated that the altercation stemmed from a disagreement over an electricity bill, which escalated when Nura stabbed Kasim in the back with a pair of scissors.
