A tragic incident occurred on the night of March 21, 2025, when 23-year-old Usman Muhammad, a security volunteer, was brutally murdered by a group of thugs at a mosque in Kaduna State.
Muhammad’s family has called for justice, describing him as a dedicated and vibrant young man who worked tirelessly to protect his community, particularly during nighttime prayers.
According to a family member, Malam Sir-meen, Usman was part of a volunteer security team that encountered a gang armed with cutlasses and knives that night. When he and his colleagues attempted to question the group, they were suddenly attacked, forcing them to flee.
“Usman sought refuge in a nearby mosque, hoping for safety, but the attackers pursued him, inflicting severe injuries, including a fatal wound to his chest,” Sir-meen recounted.
Despite efforts to save him, Usman succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
In response to the incident, the police have arrested 12 suspects and transferred them to the Kaduna State Police Headquarters for further investigation.
Usman’s family is now pleading with authorities to ensure that justice is served and that those responsible for his death are held accountable.
As the community mourns the loss of this brave young man, his family’s call for justice highlights the urgent need for accountability and the protection of innocent lives.
