A Nigerian Naval officer, Lt. Cynthia Akor, along with two others, has reportedly been abducted by armed men at their residence in the Mpape area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The incident took place on Friday night, and the kidnappers are demanding a ransom of N100 million for their release.
Drivetvnews gathered that Akor is an officer serving at the Nigerian Defence Headquarters in Abuja.
A source, who requested anonymity, confirmed the abduction, stating, “One of the three individuals kidnapped on Friday night in Mpape is a Defence Headquarters officer, Akor.”
The source further disclosed that the kidnappers have already contacted the victims’ families to demand the ransom.
“The abductors have reached out to the families and are demanding N100 million,” the source added.
Efforts by Drivetvnews to obtain a response from the Federal Capital Territory Police Command were unsuccessful, as the spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, was unavailable at the time of this report.
Adeh had previously assured that she would verify the situation and provide updates. “I will confirm and get back to you shortly,” she said. However, no further information has been provided.
Similarly, attempts to get a statement from the Defence Headquarters were unsuccessful, as both the Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. Markus Kangye, and the Director of Defence Information, Brig. Gen. Tukur Gusau, did not respond to calls.
