Nollywood has lost one of its seasoned actresses, Nkechi Nweje, who passed away following a short illness.
The news of her passing was shared by her colleague, Stanley Ontop, via Instagram on Friday.
Expressing his grief, Stanley wrote:
“The Nollywood industry is in mourning as we bid farewell to the vibrant actress @nkechi.nweje. She passed away after a brief illness. I have been in shock all day, struggling to process this loss. Ezigbo Nwanyi Onitsha, rest in peace. You were more than a friend—you always called to give me advice. The last time we spoke was during the Queeneth saga when you told me to let it go. I am still at a loss for words.”
Following the announcement, several Nollywood actors and industry colleagues have taken to social media to pay tribute to the late actress.
Segun Arinze Dismisses Health Rumors
In another development, Nollywood actor Segun Arinze has denied online rumors suggesting he is gravely ill and in need of financial assistance.
Concerns arose after images of him appearing frail and with a swollen stomach circulated on social media. However, in a video shared on Instagram on Friday, Arinze reassured his followers that he is in good health.
He clarified that the images were taken on a movie set and do not reflect his actual condition. Arinze also expressed gratitude to those who reached out with concern and cautioned the public against falling for scams. He warned against giving money to anyone claiming to be raising funds for his medical treatment.
