The Niger State Police Command has taken a man identified as Mubarak into custody for allegedly stabbing 25-year-old Shamseen Danshehu to death. Mubarak is believed to be mentally unstable.

The incident occurred on Sunday evening in the Kwangila area of Minna, the state capital. Witnesses reported that an altercation broke out between Mubarak and Danshehu, during which Mubarak allegedly stabbed the victim in the chest.

Danshehu was rushed to Minna General Hospital, but doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.

Local residents stated that while they were unsure of what led to the confrontation, they often saw Mubarak wandering the streets and searching through refuse bins.

Confirming the incident, Wasiu Abiodun, spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, said:

“Reports indicate that Mubarak, who is suspected to be mentally unstable and known for scavenging in the Kwangila area, got into a fight with a passerby, 25-year-old Shamsu Danshehu. During the altercation, the suspect stabbed the victim in the chest with a pair of scissors.

“The victim was taken to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead. The suspect has been arrested, and investigations are ongoing.”
