A tragic incident has struck the Matuak Giwa community in Bondon District, Moro’a Chiefdom, located in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State. On Sunday, a lightning strike claimed the life of a young herder and 12 of his cows, leaving the community in mourning.
The Village Head of Matuak Giwa, Simon Ayuba, confirmed the heartbreaking event on Monday. According to him, the herder had sought shelter from the rain with his cattle when lightning struck, killing them instantly.
“The herder and the 12 cows died on the spot. It was a devastating event that has left everyone in shock,” Ayuba stated.
Mallam Tanko Isiyaka, the Ardo of Bondon District, also verified the incident, revealing that the deceased herder was originally from Bauchi State.
Expressing deep sorrow, Tanko urged the community to offer prayers and support for the grieving family. The victim was laid to rest according to Islamic customs, leaving his family to cope with the sudden and painful loss.
This tragic occurrence underscores the unpredictable nature of weather and the need for caution during storms. The community remains in shock, with many offering condolences and assistance to the bereaved family as they navigate this difficult time.
