Seven people, including six men and one woman, tragically lost their lives in a fatal accident that occurred on Saturday morning near the NIPCO Filling Station along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The Ogun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the incident, stating that it happened around 7:00 a.m. and involved a collision between three vehicles — a Mack truck, a tanker, and a commercial bus.
According to the FRSC Public Education Officer, Florence Okpe, a total of 15 individuals were involved in the crash. Four sustained varying degrees of injuries, while others escaped unhurt.
Investigations by the FRSC revealed that the accident was caused by the reckless speeding of the Mack truck driver, which led to a loss of control and a collision with the other vehicles.
The injured victims were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention, while the bodies of the deceased were taken to the Idera morgue in Sagamu.
Okpe added that the damaged vehicles were cleared from the road to prevent further traffic obstruction and ensure the smooth flow of vehicles.
FRSC Sector Commander, CC Fasakin Akinwumi, also visited the crash site for an on-the-spot assessment and further investigation. He expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and advised them to visit the FRSC office in Ibafo for more information.
