The League of Northern Democrats (LND), a collective of concerned northern leaders, has strongly denounced the recent killing of 52 civilians in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, describing the incident as a tragic blow to human dignity.
In a statement released on Saturday by its spokesperson, Dr. Ladan Salihu, the group expressed deep concern over the worsening security situation in the Bokkos-Mangu region. The LND urged both state and federal governments to take decisive action to protect residents and address the growing insecurity.
“The senseless murder of 52 innocent individuals in Bokkos is a horrific act that cannot be ignored,” the statement said.
The group called for the immediate identification, arrest, and prosecution of those responsible, emphasizing the importance of justice and accountability.
“We stand in solidarity with the people and leadership of Plateau State, and we extend our deepest sympathies to the families affected by this devastating event,” the LND added.
The group also highlighted the urgent need for comprehensive security measures in the Bokkos-Mangu corridor, which has witnessed a rise in violent incidents in recent months.
Warning of potential escalation, the LND stressed that if the situation is not addressed promptly, Plateau State risks becoming a major center of violence. The group appealed to the federal government to allocate sufficient resources and personnel to enhance security and prevent further bloodshed in the region.
