Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) has dismissed three lecturers over confirmed allegations of sexual harassment.
Those affected include Mr. Nurudeen Hassan from the Department of Mass Communication, along with Mr. Kareem Arigbabu and Mr. Olayinka Uthman, both from the Department of Arts and Design.
The decision followed a detailed investigation and disciplinary process led by the university’s Governing Council. The outcome was communicated in an internal memo titled “Dismissal of Staff Members Due to Sexual Harassment Allegations.”
According to the memo, the council approved the immediate termination of the lecturers’ appointments after thoroughly reviewing the findings. The university cited Section 5.5.2(v) of its Senior Staff Conditions of Service as the legal basis for the dismissals.
LASUSTECH stated that this action reflects its strong commitment to addressing sexual misconduct and maintaining a safe, respectful academic environment.
“The university remains dedicated to protecting its community and upholding the values of integrity and accountability,” the memo concluded.
