A heartbreaking incident has unfolded in the Ọja Odan area of Ogun State, where the remains of 80-year-old Ayodele Ogundipe, reported missing on April 24, 2025, were found mutilated.
Confirming the development, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, told PUNCH Online that investigations are currently underway.
“The command is looking into the tragic case involving the recovery of the dismembered body of Ayodele Ogundipe, who was declared missing on April 24,” Odutola stated.
According to her, the elderly woman’s family notified the Oja Odan Divisional Police after she failed to return home from her farm.
Following the report, community members and relatives organized a search team. On April 25, 2025, they made a distressing discovery on her farmland near the Oja-Odan/Ohunbe Road, where her remains were located in a severely disfigured condition.
Reacting to the situation, the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, directed the immediate deployment of undercover officers to identify and arrest those behind what authorities suspect to be a ritual killing.
In addition to assuring a thorough investigation, the Commissioner expressed his sympathy to the victim’s family and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to community safety.
He also promised regular updates to keep the public informed as the case unfolds.
