Adefowora Abiodun, identified as one of the alleged promoters of the cryptocurrency platform Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX), has voluntarily appeared before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for questioning.

Abiodun arrived at the EFCC’s headquarters at approximately 4:00 p.m. on Monday, accompanied by his legal team. He expressed his willingness to cooperate with investigators. He is one of four individuals previously declared wanted by the EFCC in connection with an alleged fraudulent investment operation reportedly exceeding $1 billion.

The EFCC had earlier named Seyi Oloyede, Emmanuel Uko, Adefowora Oluwanisola, and Adefowora Abiodun Olaonipekun as suspects linked to the CBEX scheme.

Last week, the Federal High Court in Abuja approved a request from the EFCC to arrest and detain six individuals suspected of involvement in the CBEX case. The ruling, delivered by Justice Emeka Nwite, followed an ex parte motion submitted by EFCC counsel Fadila Yusuf.

Justice Nwite stated: “Having reviewed the submissions, supporting affidavit, and accompanying documents, I find the application to be well-founded and hereby grant the request.”

Those listed in the court’s detention order include Adefowora Abiodun Olanipekun, Adefowora Oluwanisola, Emmanuel Uko, Seyi Oloyede, Avwerosuo Otorudo, and Chukwuebuka Ehirim.

Representing Abiodun, his lawyer Babatunde Busari, Esq., said that his client voluntarily approached the EFCC to defend himself and correct public misconceptions regarding his alleged involvement.
