Veteran Juju musician Sunday Adegeye, widely known as King Sunny Ade, has shared a brief video to debunk rumors suggesting he is missing.
Recently, his daughter, Damilola Adeniyi, voiced concerns about her father’s whereabouts and safety, fearing that he might have been kidnapped.
Through multiple posts on her Instagram page, Damilola implied that her father could be under external influence and suggested his manager might be involved in his sudden absence.
In response, King Sunny Ade addressed the situation in a video posted online. The 78-year-old explained that his children became worried after they were unable to reach him during a personal retreat. He clarified that he had simply taken a few days off for rest.
“I was just away to relax. My children got worried and assumed I had been kidnapped, but I thank God that nothing like that happened,” he said. “I was not kidnapped, and I certainly didn’t kidnap myself.”
Prior to the release of the video, Dayo Adegeye—King Sunny Ade’s manager and son—had assured the public that the legendary artist was safe.
“There is absolutely no truth to the kidnapping claims,” Dayo stated. “We are addressing the matter and investigating the source of these false allegations.”
He further reassured fans, saying, “King Sunny Ade, the King of World Beats, is in excellent health and high spirits. His attention remains on his music and preserving his legacy.”
Both the Adegeye family and King Sunny Ade’s team are actively working to dispel the false rumors and safeguard his public image.
