The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the tragic deaths of a woman and her child in the Ute community of Ose Local Government Area, Ondo State.
The incident occurred when a grader, reportedly owned by the local government and involved in road maintenance, veered off course and struck the victims. Preliminary reports suggest the driver lost control of the machine due to a suspected brake failure.

The Chairman of Ose Local Government, Mr. Clement Ojo, also released a statement expressing sorrow over the incident. He said the grader was being used for rural road development under a local initiative when the malfunction happened.
“This heartbreaking accident, caused by mechanical failure, has deeply affected us all,” Ojo said. “The woman and her child were simply on their way to the farm when their lives were suddenly cut short.”
He assured the public that steps are being taken to determine the cause of the malfunction and to prevent such tragedies in the future. He added that local officials visited the scene immediately to offer condolences and assess the situation.
“This visit was a sincere effort to stand by the grieving family and the entire Ute community in this moment of loss,” he added.
