Nollywood actor Tito Harrison has opened up about the painful experience of battling liver disease and a chronic ulcer, describing it as the darkest period of his life.
During an emotional appearance on Talk To B, a podcast hosted by actress Biola Adebayo, Harrison recounted how the prolonged illness took a severe toll on his finances and personal life. To cover the mounting medical expenses, he was forced to sell everything he owned—including his house and car.
“My wife stayed by my side when everyone else walked away,” he said. “Having a good wife makes all the difference. I had to let go of my home, my vehicle—everything—to pay hospital bills. After moving into a rented place, I couldn’t keep up with the rent, so we ended up living with my mother-in-law. If I were to live life again, I’d still choose her as my wife.”
Harrison also spoke about the emotional pain caused by the lack of compassion from some of his peers in Nollywood. He described feeling abandoned and ridiculed by colleagues during his lowest moments.
He recalled a hurtful incident where a fellow actor publicly mocked his condition: “Someone once said in an interview, ‘Tito Harrison is finished; he’s now living in his wife’s mother’s house.’ I still have the article. Even if that were true, was it necessary to say it? If you can’t support someone in their struggle, at least don’t tear them down.”
