President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday welcomed the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade, and his wife, Abiwumi Owoade, to the State House in Abuja.
Also present at the meeting were prominent government officials, including the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, and the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Muhammed Idris. The gathering emphasized the ongoing partnership between the federal government and traditional leadership in Nigeria.
The Alaafin, accompanied by his delegation and the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, held discussions with President Tinubu focused on promoting cultural values and advancing socio-economic growth in Oyo State and across the Southwest.
Photographs from the visit, which featured the Alaafin and President Tinubu alongside key members of the presidential team, reflected the symbolic unity between Nigeria’s democratic governance and its deep-rooted traditional institutions. The images were made public by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President, via his official X account.
