The Delta State Police Command has taken a 49-year-old woman, identified as Joy Temitope, into custody for allegedly abducting a two-month-old baby in Koko, Delta State.
The arrest was announced in a statement released on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer for the state, SP Bright Edafe.
According to the statement, Temitope allegedly deceived a 20-year-old mother, drugged her, and fled with her infant son.
Police officers, acting on intelligence reports, eventually tracked down the suspect and apprehended her three months after the incident. The baby, now five months old, was safely rescued and has been reunited with his mother.
“The suspect, Mrs. Joy Temitope, aged 49, lured a 20-year-old girl who had a two-month-old baby. She drugged the young mother and stole her child in Koko, Delta State,” Edafe stated. “Through intelligence-led efforts, she was arrested after three months, and the baby boy was rescued and returned to his mother.”
