Nollywood actress Biola Adebayo has publicly revealed that she and her husband, Oluwaseyi Akinrinde, have ended their marriage. In a post shared on Instagram, she disclosed that their separation occurred in April 2024, and the two are now focused on co-parenting their son in a peaceful and respectful manner.
The announcement came as part of a birthday message to Akinrinde. Adebayo wrote:
“Happy birthday to my ex-husband and the father of my child. I pray that God’s grace surrounds you, that you find peace in every aspect of your life, and that His blessings exceed your expectations.”
She added, “Yes, it’s true. We have been separated since April last year. However, we’ve chosen to handle things maturely and co-parent our beloved son, who is the center of our world.”
Addressing her fans and followers, Adebayo expressed regret over the breakup:
“To those who may feel let down, I’m truly sorry. I wished things had worked out, but sometimes survival and peace of mind are more important. Please remember us in your prayers.”
She also spoke candidly about the emotional pain she has experienced during the past year.
“I’ve spent my days putting smiles on others’ faces, but many nights have been filled with tears. For 14 months, I’ve cried silently. Yet, my strength comes from Christ, who loves me deeply and gave His life for me.”
Encouraging empathy, she wrote:
“Let’s be kind to one another. Many people are quietly struggling. Always remember: it shall be well with the righteous.”
Support quickly poured in from fans, friends, and fellow celebrities. Actress Regina Chukwu commented, “Biola… it’s well,” reflecting the overwhelming messages of love and encouragement she received.
Previously, in a 2023 interview with The PUNCH, Adebayo spoke about her marriage, revealing that she and Akinrinde had a brief courtship before marrying in April 2021. She explained on her YouTube channel:
“We didn’t date for long. We tied the knot within six months because I knew what I wanted, and we shared a lot of values.”
The couple welcomed their first child, a boy, in April 2023 through a surrogate, marking a joyful chapter in their relationship despite its later challenges.
